Comedy and Music Legends This Weekend!

SNL veterans and comedy icons Steve Martin and Martin Short will be performing together for one night only this weekend! Also making a comeback is the hugely popular 90s alt rock band, Hootie and the Blowfish, at Fiddler’s Green, and don’t miss The Fray – who never went away! And with summer in full swing, there are even more FREE outdoor happenings in the Castle Rock area this weekend!

MUSIC FROM THE SHED
Head out to Parker for some good ol’ music in the park when Woodshed Red performs an energetic mix of bluegrass, blues, funk, and rock, spanning the decades! This FREE concert is part of the Summer Concert Series in the Discovery Park amphitheater!

Pack a picnic and bring the whole family to enjoy a summer evening of fun. Discovery Park has an interactive water fountain for the kids, as well as monumental art pieces to enjoy. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket, and soak in the sounds of summer!

DANCING IN THE PARK
Savor the sounds of the decades with one of Denver’s most popular dance bands! Deja Blu features both male and female lead vocals for a wide range of covers spanning fifty years of pop music! The Highlands Ranch Summer Concert Series offers a great outdoor space for the entire family to enjoy some FREE summer music in the park.

HOOTIE IS BACK!
Fans of 90s alt rock music, this is the concert you’ve been waiting for! Hootie and the Blowfish are back for their first tour in a decade, along with the wildly popular Barenaked Ladies! 

It will be an evening of throwback summer fun at one of the best venues to catch a show, Fiddlers Green Amphitheatre! So dig out your baja sweaters and Birkenstocks and get ready to hear some of your all-time favorite hits, including Let Her Cry,Hold My Hand, and Only Wanna Be with You!

3D PREDATOR MOVIE
This astounding new nature film takes you to a place you have never been before—into the world of the predator. MOONLIT BICYCLE RIDE!
Treat the family to a nocturnal adventure you won’t soon forget! The ninth-annual Pedal the Moon is a bicycle excursion combined with a cool moon-viewing opportunity! Starting at Castle Valley High School, the bike ride will follow the East Plum Creek Trail and end in Festival Park, where you can enjoy viewing the moon through telescopes set up by CSU’s Madison-Macdonald Observatory. 

Registration includes logo T-shirt, as well as hot dogs, chips, and a drink. Each biker must have a helmet, a front headlamp attached to the bike, and a blinking rear light on the bike.

CRIME AND PUN-ISHMENT
This humorous take on murder mystery dinner theater will keep you rolling (your eyes)! It’s a “pun-ny” night at the castle when someone is “put on ice” at Mafia Don Lou Zar’s speakeasy! The crowd is full of potential suspects—jealous, jilted lovers, a rival Mafioso, and a pair of undercover feds. 

Help find out whodunit by trading clues with your fellow guests and solving the crime before the murderer scrams! An Italian buffet dinner adds authenticity to the evening, and you can choose to wear a costume for added fun!

CASTLE ROCK SUMMER JAM
What could be more fun than an all-day music festival close to home, complete with local food and beverages? Castle Rock’s Summer Jam is an opportunity to party with your friends and neighbors while benefiting local high school students who participate in music programs!

Grammy-nominated local band The Fray will headline the concert, with other talented local bands contributing to the sounds of summer! The Fray achieved national success with their debut release, How to Save a Life. The double-platinum album featured the hit singles Over My Head (Cable Car) and How to Save a Life.

ROSÉ IN THE RANCH
This brand-new summer event at Highlands Ranch brings the always-popular activity of wine-tasting close to home! It will be a wine-sampling excursion that features mainly Rosé wines, with a selection of white wines and sparkling selections also available to taste! These crisp light wines are perfect for summer parties or enjoying by the pool!

Food trucks will be on hand with food to pair with the beverage samples. This event is for adults 21 and over—no children or infants, please!

HEALING MUSIC
Grammy-winning pianist, composer, and author Peter Kater invites you to experience the healing powers of music—by lying under the piano while he plays! This unusual and fully-immersive experience highlights the uplifting power of music that Kater promotes—he awakens, mesmerizes and transports the soul through sound.

FIRST DAY OUT ON THE WATER!
It’s a paddle-fest at the Rueter-Hess Reservoir in Castle Pines! The Town of Castle Rock Parks and Recreation Department invites you to the first day of public access on the reservoir, where you can explore, paddle, and kayak on this scenic body of water!

Boat inspections will be on-site and registration is required.
