Castle Rock Lights Up This Weekend!

Even with social distancing measures in place, you can still be cheered by the festive displays of holiday lights in the area! Schweiger Ranch and Chatfield Farms both offer outdoor settings where you can stroll past the lighting displays without encountering crowds. There are fun activities for kids this weekend, including Nutcracker highlights online, decorating ornaments, and an outdoor holiday market with Santa and Elsa from Frozen!

HOLIDAY LIGHTS FROM A DISTANCE
Every year Schweiger Ranch puts on one of the best FREE holiday lights display, and this year is no different. However, since the Ranch property is temporarily closed due to COVID-19, you can view the display from the parking lot and along the trail.

DENVER’S BEST HOLIDAY MARKET ONLINE
The Junior League of Denver is known for their popular Holiday Mart with the best quality merchandise. While the Holiday Mart is virtual this year, they have curated an amazing line of products that will make your online shopping experience just as special.

This event benefits the JLD’s efforts to empower women to become civic leaders, as well as community efforts around early childhood literacy. Local businesses are featured in this market!

MUCK BUCKET FRISBEE GOLF
Enjoy some post-Thanksgiving outdoor fun with the whole family! Sign up for a round of  frisbee golf and take home a Robin’s Nest Frisbee. You can also have fun hanging out with the resident sheep, chickens, and horses! All proceeds benefit Robin’s Nest Foundation, a non-profit helping the teens in our community connect with horses and the outdoors.

SANTA AT PARK MEADOWS
Get your Christmas photos with Santa while you can! Make a reservation to get your own professional photo packet of your child with Santa.

TRAIL OF LIGHTS
It’s that time of year again—when you get to be dazzled by exquisite holiday light displays! This year, Chatfield Farm’s popular Trail of Lights offers a choice of paths: a shorter route that takes you directly through the children’s play area and an extended path allows you to explore the outside area of the Green Farm Barn and silo before continuing through the children’s area and 1880’s homestead.

Fun features this year include synchronized music in children’s play area, a three-sided light tunnel, and illuminated antique and model tractors on display. Hot beverages, nuts, and kettle corn will be available for purchase.

SEE THE NUTCRACKER ONLINE
If your family is one of the many who count the annual performance of The Nutcracker among their most beloved holiday traditions, you don’t have to give it up this year. The Highlands Ranch Cultural Affairs Association is partnering with the International Youth Ballet to bring the classic ballet into your home this holiday season! 

This wonderful one-hour family-friendly performance of The Nutcracker Highlights will be presented for FREE virtually this year. The stream will be available throughout the holiday season to enjoy as you decorate cookies and wrap your presents.

HOLIDAY TEA AT THE CASTLE
Get in a festive mood with a Holiday Tea in a real castle! You can bet they will deck their halls before you arrive, and you’ll have a chance to dress up and enjoy the fancy finger foods, including scones with clotted cream and jam. This event is appropriate for children ages 10 and over with the adults in their family!

PRE-SCHOOLER PRINCESS DANCE CLASS
Just for the youngest dancers in your family, this magical class will allow young dancers to meet their favorite princesses while learning and mastering different dance moves. This class is designed for ages 3-5 and will also incorporate story time with live characters, obstacle courses, and getting autographs.

OUTDOOR HOMETOWN MARKET 
Plenty of fresh air and room for social distancing in this FREE family-friendly event that combines shopping at local small businesses with free family entertainment! Stroll by  booths featuring handmade and vintage items from over 40 vendors! There will be free hot chocolate and cider as well as free swag bags while they last! 

Kids will find loads of fun activities, including crafts and a letter-writing station to perfect their letter to Santa. And the Jolly Old Elf himself will be there to pose for pictures with kids, as well as Elsa the Frozen Snow Queen! COVID protocols will be in place.

Let’s Roam Virtual Game Night 
Let’s Roam makes it easy for you to have an epic game night — any night. KIDS HOLIDAY DECORATING
Let the kids pick out their own ornament or decoration to paint themselves, then have it fired in the kiln for a one-of-a-kind holiday memory to hang on the tree year after year! There will also be regular playtime, so you can run an errand or two if you like! Or if you’d like to paint an ornament, you can do that, too.
