Celebrate Mother’s Day in Castle Rock!

With a range of activities just for Mom this weekend in the Castle Rock area, you’ll have the chance to treat her to whatever she likes. From music to theatre to a 5K run to comedy for the whole family, make Mother’s Day a special one!

THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, JR.
What could be more adorable than a bunch of kids dressed up as flappers and Roaring Twenties gangsters? This fun adaptation of the six-time Tony Award-winning Best Musical and the Academy Award-winning film, Thoroughly Modern Millie, lets the all-child cast from the American Academy Performing Arts show how talented they are! This is a show the entire family will enjoy—and will have everyone dancing the Charleston for weeks to come!

90’S NIGHT OUT
Get nostalgic with an entire evening of your favorite tunes, played by 90s Til Dawn, Denver’s premier cover band of grunge, alternative, and rock-n-roll from the last decade of the last millennium. 

This rocking band plays spot-on covers from over 40 different bands, including Green Day, Weezer, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blink-182, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and many more! There will also be a trivia contest and a costume contest! So pull out your best flannel shirts and black leggings and come on out!

PATRIOTIC POPS

PANCAKES AT THE RANCH
This delicious pancake breakfast is to honor moms everywhere, so bring the entire family out to the ranch to celebrate Mother’s Day!

MOTHER’S DAY 5K
How about a family-friendly 5K run to celebrate Mother’s Day? First-time race runners as well as seasoned 5K-ers are welcome, and you can bring your stroller! The view can’t be beat—you’ll get great glimpses of the Front Range, Highlands Ranch Windmill,  and the Highlands Ranch Mansion. A post-race party will have fun activities, inflatables for the kids, and an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast!

WORK DAY IN THE BACKCOUNTRY
When you are out in nature, helping to spruce up the gorgeous Backcountry Wilderness Area at the biggest volunteer event of the year, it doesn’t feel like work! The Big Help is a chance for you to come together with your neighbors and service-minded organizations (like the scouts and sports teams) to make a difference in the community. 

When you arrive at Base Camp after registering, you’ll be assigned a project to undertake. Once the work gloves come off, everyone will celebrate their day of hard work with a bring-your-own picnic party.

WARBIRD FLY-OVERS
Don’t be alarmed if you notice a sky full of fighter jets over Englewood—instead, come over to Blue Sky Aviation’s day dedicated to all things warbird! There will be fly-overs, fly-ins, static aircraft, and presentations on aircraft including the P-51, Sea Fury, Stearman, Beech Staggerwing, SNJ-6, and many more!

Steve Steinberger, a retired Systems Engineer from Lockheed Martin and a 12-year Air Force Missile Man veteran, will present on the Doolittle Raid and the Berlin Airlift.

MOMS, PAINT & MIMOSAS
Bring mom out to the Outlets at Castle Rock for a fun session of “Painting with a Twist.” Ticket price includes a 2-hour painting session, canvas, painting materials, and instruction from artist experts, as well as a complimentary mimosa for those over 21! 

There will also be additional beverages available for purchase to benefit charity, goodie bags, snacks, a complimentary massage, special coupons, giveaways and more! Space is limited, so register before tickets sell out!

THE PARKER PLAYERS COMEDY REVUE
Local comedians have written and act in this hilarious sketch comedy show in the style of a Second City revue, exploring life in the suburbs with humor-colored glasses. 

Commuter Town & Country shows life in the suburbs in a way that will forever change how you view the trending, the scandalous, and the mundane. Directed by an alum from  The Second City in Chicago! Mature audiences suggested.

CREEDANCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL TRIBUTE
The band who delivers rock band tributes with no gimmicks, no makeup and no other illusions is back with a recreation of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Chronicle, Vol. 1! 

Classic Albums Live’s skilled vocalists and musicians honor the original work note for note and cut for cut. You will think you are in a concert by CCR themselves, as their greatest hits are recreated, including Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary, Have You Ever Seen the Rain?, Down On The Corner, and Travellin’ Band.

TEDX COLORADO SPRINGS

For everyone who loves TED Talks, this is your opportunity to see a live, local version of the event put on by the community, for the community. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and the talks are focused on bringing communities, organizations, and individuals together to share “ideas worth spreading.”

From more than 100 applicants, the final panel of speakers for TEDx Colorado Springs were chosen because they have an idea that serves others or offers a different perspective of the world. In addition to the eclectic panel of speakers, there will be live music, local vendors and more at this year’s event!

MOTHER’S DAY COMEDY FOR THE FAMILY
This clean version of a comedy show is appropriate for the entire family! Pat McGann is a stand-up comedian and television host from Chicago. He has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman and hosted the Emmy-nominated television show The Chicago Stand Up Project. 

McGann has been a part of several comedy festivals including The Great American Comedy Festival, Laugh Fest, The Lucille Ball Comedy Festival and has been heard on the nationally-syndicated The Bob & Tom Show as well as seen on AXS-TV’s Gotham Comedy Live.
