Classic Cars, Concerts and a Street Fair!

Just in time for Father’s Day, the award-winning Castle Rock vintage car show rolls into town this weekend. Kick off the event on Friday night with a street fair, concert, and sneak peak at all the cool cars in town! Other fun Father’s Day activities include a family-friendly comedy show and a special concert by the Glenn Miller Orchestra! A variety of free outdoor concerts rounds out the weekend!

FREE NOSTALGIA CONCERT
parker-free-concert-300x203-9513115A warm summer evening in the park is the perfect setting for soft-rock covers from the 1970s and early 80s, with local favorite easy-listening band, Knot Rock! If you’re feeling nostalgic for summer tunes of yesteryear by artists such as The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Hall and Oates, Nicolette Larson, Fleetwood Mac, and more, you won’t want to miss this FREE concert! The band features both male and female lead vocals, as well as five-part harmonies that are guaranteed to take you back in time!

HIGHLANDS RANCH SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
If groovin’ to the beat is what you’re in the mood for, this summer outdoor concert will have you up on your feet and dancing! The Michael Friedman Band puts on a high-energy show the entire family will enjoy! Pack a picnic, bring a blanket, and head out to the park for this FREE concert—there will be plenty of room for dancing!

CAR SHOW CONCERT AND STREET PARTY

To kick off the 10th Annual Classic Cruise-In Car Show, head to downtown Castle Rock for a fun, FREE community street party, complete with a happenin’ concert, delicious food, and activities for the kids! Even better, you can get a sneak peek of some of the vintage cars that will be on display tomorrow at the award-winning classic car show!

90S NIGHT IN HIGHLANDS RANCH
In the mood for grunge, flannel shirts, and a time when things were just more fun? Check out this festive night of 90s music, trivia, costumes, and nostalgic fun! Fan-favorite band, 90s Til Dawn, will be playing all your favorite hits by Green Day, Weezer, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blink-182, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and many more! Dig out your best 90s outfit and compete in the costume contest!

DAZZLING DANCE RECITAL
For a delightful dance performance, look no further than the talented young dancers from the Metropolitan Academy of Dance, a premier dance studio in Centennial. This performance, Le Trente Troisieme, features students from 3-18 years old, who will dazzle you with an entertaining mix of various styles of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop and poms.

CASTLE ROCK CRUISE-IN CAR SHOW
Treat Dad to the best car show in the state! The award-winning Classic Rock Cruise-In transforms downtown Castle Rock into a showplace for all kinds of cool cars, trucks, and specialty vehicles, in addition to the vintage gems it’s best-known for.

Main Street will be closed off to display more than 300 car entries that will compete in categories that include Best of Show, Longest Distance Travelled, Mayor’s Choice, Hottest Car (chosen by the Fire Chief), and Most Likely to Get Pulled Over (picked by the Police Chief). It’s a fun day for the entire family, with live music, food, and activities for the kids!

A GOOD OL’ FASHIONED HOEDOWN!
You can enjoy a day of fun in horse country without even leaving town! Littleton’s Good Ol’ Fashioned Hoedown is a family-friendly event centered around horses, with something for everyone. There will be a craft fair and face painting for the kids, live entertainment, a silent auction, educational demonstrations, and lots of delicious food!

Even better, this event is a fundraiser for The Right Step, a non-profit dedicated to helping clients with physical, emotional, and behavioral disabilities through the healing power of horse therapy. You’ll get to see the horses in action, as well as participate in horse rides and even horse painting! All food and drinks are included with the price of your ticket.

FAMILY CAMPFIRE HIKE
It’s the perfect time of year to get out in nature and explore! The entire family will enjoy this short hike with experts who will point out all of the ways nature is coming back to life after a long winter. Explore in the woods, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy quality time together.

After the hike, cozy up next to the fire to roast marshmallows and make s’mores.

EVERCLEAR IN CONCERT
The immensely-popular iconic 90s band Everclear has never let up on their song-writing and performing. Although they are best-known for rock anthems Santa Monicaand Father of Mine, this band has continued to forge new musical paths, right up through their latest release, 2015’s Black Is the New Black. In this year’s Summerland Tour, you’ll get to hear all your 90s alt-rock favorites, as well as “deep cuts” that give fans a rare treat.

FATHER’S DAY FAMILY SHOW
What happens when a 25-year-veteran veterinarian decides to tell the funny stories that come from pets? You won’t want to miss the answers that come from Kevin Fitzgerald, a stand-up comedian whose material comes from his love of creatures great and small. Best known for his 10 seasons on Animal Planet’s Emergency Vets, Kevin’s passion for making people laugh is surpassed only by his unwavering dedication to animals.

This special family-friendly show is “clean” and a perfect way for kids to treat Dad to a positive afternoon filled with humor. Fitzgerald’s philosophy is that laughter is an incredibly important part of everyday life, and nobody can ever laugh too much. OLD-TIME FATHER’S DAY CONCERT
Make Father’s Day extra special with this unique opportunity to see the legendary Glenn Miller Orchestra live on stage! Glenn Miller was the most successful of all the dance bandleaders in the swing era of the 1930s and 1940s, and you’ll hear all his timeless classics like In the Mood, Moonlight Serenade, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Pennsylvania 6-5000, A String of Pearlsand Tuxedo Junction. Even 80 years after the start of this famous orchestra, Glenn Miller’s music is still going strong!

This memorable matinee concert features 18 musicians and singers who will bring the unforgettable Glenn Miller sound to life. If you have a jazz or swing fan in the family, this is a must-see concert—especially if that fan happens to be Dad or Grandpa!
