Father’s Day Classic Rock Cruise-In Car Show!

It’s Father’s Day weekend, and everyone knows that means the Classic Rock Cruise-In Car Show has taken over downtown Castle Rock! Kick off the weekend with a street festival and concert on Friday night, then treat Dad to a day full of classic cars on Saturday! Other events this weekend include plenty of concerts, movies, and hikes in the great outdoors!

TODAY/TONIGHT, June 17

EARLY MORNING HIKE
Rise and shine and head out to the backcountry for a refreshing guided hike! Join a group of fellow nature enthusiasts and a guide who will point out wildlife and flowers on this Wellness Walk. The hike is FREE but registration is required.

STORY TIME OUTDOORS

What’s better than a morning of stories? Stories told outdoors! This FREE event is designed for children up to age 5 and takes place out on the lawn, so bring along a blanket or lawn chairs.

TUNES FOR TRAILS
Castle Rock’s free concert series, Tunes for Trails, is back! Celebrate summer and a return to normal with a weekly concert in Philip S. Miller Park. This week’s show features country-rock band Woodland Park! These talented local musicians only recently came together to write, perform, and record unique, edgy and catchy tunes with a wide array of musical influences. Don’t miss the energy and talent of Woodland Park!

OPEN PLAY WITH THE SYMPHONY
Are you an aspiring classical musician? Here’s your chance to play along with the Lone Tree Symphony! During Open Play, anyone who plays an orchestral instrument is invited to play along at a community session with the Lone Tree Symphony. Come out to this collaborative musical event for an evening of inspiration!

COMEDY BENEFIT
Enjoy a night of comedy while helping a good cause! This performance is a benefit for Brotherhood for the Fallen Aurora, a nonprofit organization that supports the families and departments of fallen police officers.

Fittingly, the show features stand-up comedian Vinnie Montez, a 20-plus year veteran of law enforcement. All of his material revolves around his experiences as a cop and his Mexican heritage. He got his start in comedy as a means of addressing the stress and trauma of dealing with horrible situations. He’s a favorite everywhere he performs as he focuses on telling funny stories about being a police officer.

TOY STORY OUTDOORS
Everyone loves a good movie under the stars—and it just doesn’t get any better than the classic Toy Story. Treat the whole family to a relaxing night in the park. Bring your own chairs, blankets and snacks, and find a spot in the grass. \

The annual Father’s Day Classic Rock Cruise-In Car Show is a treat for all car aficionados! JOHN DENVER TRIBUTE CONCERT

SNL COMEDIAN ON STAGE
As part of the current hilarious Saturday Night Live cast, Melissa Villaseñor made history by becoming the first-ever Latina cast member of SNL. You’ll recognize her from sketches on the show where she shows off her considerable comedic impression talent. 

On the stand-up stage, she’s a quick and sharp commenter on any number of topics, as she headlines in clubs and theaters across the country. She’s also a talented musician and will release her second music EP later this year, as well as a book of her art.

HRCA FITNESS EXPO
Exercise fanatics will have a chance to learn more about a wide range of fitness opportunities at the first annual HRCA Fitness Expo! WOMEN IN THE WILDERNESS – WILDFLOWER EDITION
Foraging for plants and wildflowers will be the focus of this women-only survival adventure course! This course is geared toward adult participants and mature teens.

YOGA IN THE PARK

WALKING TOUR OF HISTORICAL PARKER
Spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon on a walking tour of Parker that also teaches you a little local history. The guided tour will visit key historic sites where you’ll learn all about Parker’s unique past. In addition to the tour, the registration fee will also give you membership in the Parker Area Historical Society. Advanced registration is required!
