SWAN LAKE CONCERT
The Colorado Springs Philharmonic presents an exquisite concert of excerpts from one of Tchaikovsky’s most beloved works: Swan Lake. This, however, would have been news to Tchaikovsky. The great composer is best known for three of the most iconic ballets performed today: Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty, yet he never aspired to write ballets, and in fact, Swan Lake was poorly received when it was first performed in 1877. Fortunately for us, the music he originally composed as a dance for his four young nieces has endured and enchanted audiences in all the years that followed!

Pikes Peak Center, 190 S. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs
Fri./Sat., 7:30 p.m.; Sun., 2:30 p.m.
Tickets: $26-$75

TAKE A STAND WITH NEWSIES
When a band of newsboys decide to go on strike in turn-of-the-century New York City, you know you are in for a spirited evening! This lively musical is a stage adaptation of

the 1992 Disney movie, Newsies, and based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899 where young boys fought for their rights against a greedy corporation. A talented cast brings the story to life, complete with the songs you know from the movie, including Carrying the Banner, Seize the Day, and Santa Fe. The whole family will enjoy the thrills and timeless message of the show!

ADULT GLOW-IN-THE-DARK YOGA
Your kids may love glow sticks, but this event is open for adults over 21 only! Come and experience yoga like you never have before! Apply glow paint, wear a glow necklace, and shine with neon color under the black lights. Why? Unlike a typical class, practicing in near darkness makes you more cognizant of your surroundings—your brain relies on heightened awareness from senses other than vision to process sensory information in order to stay balanced.

For best effects, wear your favorite neon yoga clothes. You will move to a mellow, rhythmic vinyasa flow set to a unique playlist. Your ticket for the evening includes glow paint and necklace, one glass of wine or beer, and very light appetizers.

A stellar cast, including Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Winona Ryder, are dressed to the nines in Gilded Age fashion, earning the film an Academy Award for Best Costume Design. The screening includes a high-society tea with smoked salmon toasts and prosciutto, pimento cheese on English cucumbers, and chocolate-filled pate a choux pastries!
