Gifts for Your Favorite Graduate!

POSTED May 2, 2017

Looking for a gift for a graduate close to your heart? High school and college grads will likely need cash for textbooks, Light Rail passes, gas, rent or a business wardrobe, but here are a few other practical and fun items that would also be well-received!

Commuter Bike

graduateIf your grad likes to bike, the Trek commuter bikes rock. With disc brakes, puncture resistant tires, ergonomic grips, integrated lighting, and racks these bikes are made for city transportation.

Music or Streaming Service

A monthly subscription to Netflix, Hulu, Spotify or Tidal is a gift that never quits. Your college-bound graduate will appreciate the opportunity to watch their favorite shows and listen to their go-to artists between study breaks.

Noise Canceling Headphones

You could buy your graduate a new laptop or tablet, but if you can’t quite manage shelling out the bucks for that, consider a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. They’re ideal for studying in loud dorms or student centers to cut out distractions and disruptions.

Key Finder

Almost everyone could use help keeping track of their most important belongings and the Tile does just that. As thin as a couple of credit cards, the Tile Slim slips into any pocket or can be attached to any item and acts as a Bluetooth GPS device. It’s compatible with iPhone and Android and comes in packs of four and eight.

Instant Camera

We can’t think of a single graduate who wouldn’t want one of these! It’s a Polaroid Snap Instant Digital Camera with Zero Ink printing technology. The little camera combines digital capabilities for saving onto a Micro SD card with six different capture modes plus instant printing.

Inflatable Lounger

These inflatable chairs and loungers go anywhere and don’t need a pump to inflate, so they’re perfect for studying outside or even make a quick “bed” for an overnight guest to crash. None of them weigh more than four pounds and are constructed of durable materials.

Best Laundry Bag

The Grommet calls it the World’s Greatest Laundry Bag but it could also be called the procrastinating grad’s best friend because holds several weeks’ worth of dirty clothes, bedding and towels. It is American-made from canvas and rope.

Meal in a Mug

graduateFor a high-school grad who can’t cook or doesn’t have the time but still wants a fresh, delicious meal in his/her college dorm room – here’s the Meal in a Mug “cook” book. It has 80 fast and easy recipes – alternatives to takeout or processed food — that require nothing more than a microwave and coffee cup and a handful of ingredients.

The DeWalt Multi-Tool

This is another one of those who-wouldn’t-want-one-of-these gifts: the DeWalt Multi-Tool with 16 different tools including scissors, three screwdrivers, two pliers, a serrated knife, wire cutter, metal file, can opener and a bottle opener. If you think your grad needs a saw and an awl, you’ll have to pop for the Leatherman.
