OPENING RECEPTION – MILE HIGH NATIONAL PASTEL EXHIBITION
Don’t miss your chance to view a pure and historic art form! This special art show features pastel, a pure pigment that looks like a diamond with many facets when viewed under a microscope. Historically, pastel was introduced by Leonardo da Vinci when he used “the dry colors method” as a highlighting technique for drawings. Other artists who have featured pastels among their most important works are Edgar Degas, Mary Cassatt, Georgia O’Keeffe, Frank Reaugh and James McNeil Whistler.

The Mile-High National Pastel Exhibition opens with a free reception, including a demo by nationally-renowned pastel artist and show judge Marla Baggetta and an awards ceremony. On display is a juried art show and competition, featuring 80 luminous pastel paintings from artists across the country.
