Live Dance, Children’s Theater and the Philharmonic!

This is a great weekend to experience local theatre—including live dance and fun picks for the kids! With a choice between a classic Neil Simon play, a tango dance adaptation of Carmen, and two plays just for children, you may be dashing to the theatre every day! There are also some great concerts in the area this weekend—including the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. Whatever you are in the mood for, you’ll find plenty to choose from in the Castle Rock area!

BOB MARLEY – NOT THE REGGAE GUY!
This Bob Marley is more of a Regular Guy than a Reggae Guy. This Bob Marley hails from Maine, not Jamaica. This Bob Marley loves being a comedian and he’s wicked good at it, with over 20 comedy CDs and DVDs. He’s been on every late-night comedy show there is, so you may already be acquainted with this entertaining comedian!

You might have heard his weekly radio call-in show, The World According to Bob, or the podcast he’s so proud of, which is basically a “Bob” radio show uncensored and uninterrupted! As a winner of Sirius XM’s Super Bowl of Comedy, he is continually making new fans around the country. When you catch his live show, look forward to stories about prank phone calls and Christmas in Maine—and be ready to laugh until you cry!

CURIOUS CONNECTIONS IN NATURE
The way that one part of nature connects to another is endlessly fascinating—from the microbes within our bodies to the wild world far beyond! This interactive, multi-media exhibition is a great way for the entire family to explore and expand their knowledge of nature! 

Produced by the CU Museum of Natural History at the University of Colorado Boulder, you don’t need to go far to take part in these hands-on activities, multi-media displays and specimens from the Museum’s collection. In the wild world around us, everything is connected. Find out how through the Curious Connections in Nature exhibit at the Lone Tree branch of CU Denver!

FACING LIFE’S LAST CHAPTERS TOGETHER
This workshop for adults addresses the painful but necessary topic of how to start the important conversations about aging within your own family. Mother-daughter team Libby and Patty Bortz share their emotional journey discussing difficult topics of aging, dying and what matters most in the later chapters of life.

COUNTRY LEGEND TRACY BYRD
Classic country music lovers will want to join in this celebration of Tracy Byrd’s stellar music career! With hits such as Holdin’ Heaven, I’m from the Country, Watermelon Crawl and Drinkin’ Bone, this All-American Texan’s chart-topping career celebrates 25 years!

After several years of limiting his touring to his home state of Texas and its neighboring states in order to be close to his family, Tracy Byrd is bringing his own special brand of classic country to audiences around the country, including right here in Parker!

CHILDREN’S THEATRE – GO, DOG, GO!
A dog’s life is a good life, and this classic children’s book has been brought to life for the stage to prove it! See dogs snorkel. See dogs howl at the moon. Watch them ride a Ferris wheel. These dogs sing and dance and climb trees. Based on P.D. Eastman’s book, this is a big and little musical world of doggy fun. Like a pop-up book that comes to life – and never stops!

“With its gentle, bouncy humor and familiar situations, Go, Dog, Go! would make a fitting introduction to theater for even the youngest children, and has enough sly wit to satisfy older children and parents” (The Columbus Dispatch).

Day Camp cost does not include the price of the performance ticket for the show.

BALLOONACY – A PLAY FOR CHILDREN

COLORADO SPRINGS PHILHARMONIC IS BACK!

LIVE DANCE THEATRE – CARMEN!
The familiar story of the opera Carmen is presented in a bold and innovative way—through the sensual and passionate language of Argentine Tango! Argentine guest artists, Donato Juarez and Marcelo Molina join the spectacular Diana Cruz in the leading roles. 

The dramatic story unfolds as the free-spirited gypsy, Carmen, is caught in a love triangle between the passionate bullfighter, Escamillo, and the temperamental army captain, Don José.
