The Nutcracker is dancing, Christmas music is surround-sounding, and movies you’ve long wanted to see are screening in and around Castle Rock! If you’re home for the holidays in Crystal Valley, take the opportunity to downshift this weekend and enjoy the seasonal amusements nearby!

Tickets are available for an appearance by the New York Times bestselling author Jojo Moyes, February 5. (We wanted you to know before the event sells out!) Jojo’s new book, Still Me, featuring the iconic heroine of Me Before You and After You, will be the topic of conversation. Douglas County Libraries, in partnership with Tattered Cover Book Store, is pleased to host Jojo Moyes. Your $32 ticket purchase includes a reserved seat at the author’s presentation, a place in the signing line, dessert bites, and a hardcover copy of Still Me.

The Face Vocal Band is made up of five members: Ryan Driver, tenor; Forest Kelly, bass; Mark Megibow, vocal percussion; Cody Qualls, tenor; and Stephen Ross, countertenor. The Band, also known as simply “Face”, was founded in Boulder over 15 years ago. The group appeared in NBC’s The Sing-Off in 2009, and toured Europe in 2015 with funds raised from a Kickstarter campaign, with a second European tour in 2016. Westword attributes the uniqueness of Face to the “honest power the act releases in (its) performance.” Blending modern popular tunes with complex harmonies, brilliant beat-box rhythms and superb singing, the Face Vocal Band takes its audience on a fantastic and fun musical journey.

Denver Ballet Theatre’s 2017 production of The Nutcracker will transport audiences into a world of magic and fantasy as they follow Clara, the Nutcracker and the Mouse King’s adventures through the most beloved tale in classical ballet history. Featuring Tchaikovsky’s mesmerizing score, Denver Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker is richly produced with sparkling sets and costumes, and beautifully performed by a company enhanced with professional guest artists. Michael Martin Murphey, or “Triple M” as he’s sometimes called, brings his Cowboy Christmas to Lone Tree, a combination of poetry, music and stories that’ll warm your body like a mug of hot chocolate. A multiple Grammy nominee, Michael Martin Murphey has six gold albums, including Cowboy Songs, the first album of cowboy music to achieve gold status since 1959. He has recorded the hit singles Wildfire, Carolina in the Pines, What’s Forever For, A Long Line of Love, What She Wants, and Don’t Count the Rainy Days. Murphey is a well-known and well-loved musical voice for the horseman, rancher and cowboy and even bluegrass fans love his honest and warm Western tunes.

Run, Run Rudolph is a scavenger hunt through the Outlets of Castle Rock to find all nine of Santa’s reindeer – including Rudolph! Get your map and reindeer stickers at Customer Service and once you find all the reindeer, get a special treat from Cinnabon!

Saturday, December 23


One of the funniest and most respected comics on the circuit today, Allan Goodwin is well received in any venue, anywhere, anytime. Allan Goodwin (aka “Badgerine”) connects with his audiences–getting them to appreciate the lighter side of their own lives relating his own life experiences.

Allan entertains a vast audience base, from a 100 percent family-friendly comedy show, to late-night R-rated comedy clubs. Audiences relate to his persona – Badgerine – a hilarious look at life with ADD.

He was a first place satellite winner in the World Series of Comedy, interviewed on The Billy Bush Show, and has been seen in several PBS commercials. His 4:30 p.m. show will be an all-ages family performance.

Enjoy the final free holiday carriage rides which will begin and end in Festival Park near the holiday tree. Each carriage seats six people who climb on board to clip-clop through town and take in the festive lights decorating streets and businesses in Castle Rock.
