The Douglas County Fair is in Town!

It’s the event everyone has been waiting for—the Douglas County Fair, filled with rodeos, live entertainment, a carnival for the kids, and much, much more! There’s something for everyone at the fair! Other outdoor concerts are also in full-swing all around the Castle Rock area, along with outdoor movies, comedy shows and theatre performances, so get out there and enjoy summer at its peak!

TODAY/TONIGHT, Thursday, August 2

With a playlist that’s sure to include your favorite songs, Tunisia gives the high-energy concert of the summer at Parker’s free summer concert series! 

This versatile band plays hits from artists including Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, The Roots, Katy Perry, Usher, Led Zeppelin and more, covering everything from current hits to classic rock, R&B to disco, Motown to hip-hop, and standard jazz to swing! Tunisia’s charming enthusiasm, impressive choreography and infectious personalities will have you up and dancing!

Phillip Lamar Jordan emanates Prince in vocal similarity, look and performance. Along with the band, Paizley Park will dazzle you with synchronized dance movements and music performance of songs from the late great, Prince (Prince Rogers Nelson). Join your neighbors and friends for a night in the fresh air while listening to live music at the outdoor Amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park. Enjoy craft beers, cocktails, and delectable delights available for purchase from area vendors. Yard games and bounce houses will be set up for kids.

Begin Douglas County Fair Weekend with a bang! Sometimes called Rodeo’s most dangerous event, Xtreme Bulls is JUST BULLS—and you won’t want to miss it! This ticketed event showcases the PRCA’s top bull riders and some of the rankest bulls the sport has to offer!

An evening of comedy with Nick Thune is an evening of clever deadpan wit and an absurdist worldview! His unique style of storytelling mixed with one-liners always sells out comedy clubs across the country. Thune has made 10 appearances on The Tonight Show, two on Conan, and one on Late Night—and he nails it every time. Don’t miss your chance to see this master of absurdity at work on stage in Denver!

There’s something for everyone at the action-packed Douglas County Fair and Rodeo, with events happening every day through Sunday! Grounds Admission prices vary by day (with Thursday and Sunday FREE), and include a wide variety of activities and entertainment, plus a Vintage Marketplace. For children age 7 and under, Grounds Admission is free every day!

The kids won’t want to miss the carnival, mutton-busting, and Discovery Ranch where they can become a farmer for a day! There’s even a cricket-race (with real-live crickets) and a goat costume contest! Events for adults include a blind-tractor driving contest and plenty of musical entertainment, with several acts scheduled each day. And the highlight for all ages: a pie-eating contest!

Friday, August 3

A Colorado native, Buckstein appeared in the finale of American Idol in Season Five, and the entire country was mesmerized by his powerhouse performance. He balances a kind of traditional country that reminds you of a modern-day John Wayne with an electrifying performance—so even people who don’t like country music like him! Don’t miss this local country star when he rocks the Fairground Arena!

This special ticketed event is a rodeo performance to honor our veterans and military men and women. If you are active or retired military, show your Military ID and receive one free Rodeo Admission for this performance only. Spend an evening under the stars at an outdoor party with live music—in a castle! The Cherokee Ranch & Castle presents a stellar show—just by looking up! 

The Castle Pines Astronomy Club will have two telescopes for viewing the night sky from the castle tower, and a cash bar will be on hand for libations and delicious bites. Topping it off is a live guitarist to set the mood! Reservations are required, and all guests must be 21 and over.

More fun than a movie in the theatre, it’s a Film in the Park—and it’s FREE! Bring 

the entire family, along with blankets or lawn chairs, for a screening of Moana—one of the most stunningly beautiful animated films Disney has ever made! Featuring the first Disney princess without even a hint of a love interest, Moana is an epic Polynesian adventure filled with beautiful music!

Come see what happens when a wannabe disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, goes undercover in a convent after she witnesses a crime and livens up the nuns’ lives under the watchful eye of Mother Superior!

This uplifting musical will have you swaying along to the irresistible music by eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Newsies). Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices—and unexpectedly rediscovers her own.

This non-timed race is a perfect way for kids to try out their Triathlon skills in a fun and safe environment! The Splash Mash Dash Kids Triathlon is also a great way for kids who are looking to tune-up their skills for a larger race. All participants will receive a t-shirt, finisher medal and donuts!

The Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame newly-inducted members will be special guests of this no-holds-barred professional rodeo at the Douglas County Fair! This ticketed event features contestants from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association who will be bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle-bronc riding, tie-down roping, team roping and bull riding! The rodeo will also host barrel racers from the Women’s Pro Rodeo Association.

This band has been around since the 70s and 80s and is still going strong! With chart- topping hits like Reminiscing, Cool Change, Lonesome Loser, The Night Owls, Take It Easy on Me, Help Is on Its Way, Happy Anniversary, We Two, Man on Your Mind, The Other Guy, and It’s A Long Way There, you will recognize their music the minute you hear it!

Sunday, August 5

This is the a cappella band that knows how to rock! Covering pop and rock hits with amazing all-vocal renditions, this Boulder-based group performs songs such as Thunder by Imagine Dragons and Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah with inspiring enthusiasm. This concert is FREE with Grounds Admission.
