This weekend will be a busy one! Looking for a Christmas craft fair, world-famous stand-up laughs, or soul-filling music to enjoy? Look no further! You can learn, listen, laugh and kick back near the master-planned community of Crystal Valley all weekend long!

BACH TO THE FUTURE
Step into the Colorado Springs Philharmonic time machine this weekend for an audio voyage! Learn how music has developed from its earliest days into the present. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade will discover a wide variety of orchestral music and composers and explore its place in history in this original program. ART STOP ON THE GO!
Do you know a budding artist between ages 6 to 12 who wants to cultivate his or her inner Picasso? Join the experts from the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art who will present a book for the kids to enjoy, then lead them in a literature-based art project. Registration required.

RUSSELL PETERS LIVE!
This weekendOnly a handful of today’s artists can claim success from uploading a YouTube video, and Russell Peters is one of them! He’s been named in Rolling Stone’s recent list of the 50 Best Comics of All Time alongside such luminaries as Richard Pryor, George Carlin and Eddie Murphy. If his name is unfamiliar, watch the video and you’ll remember this funny mega-star and laugh all over again!

From a solidly working-class family Peters gained critical and global recognition for his CTV Comedy Now! special which wound up on YouTube and launched a new level of fame and success. It also led to bigger venues in his native Canada, the U.S., the UK, Australia, South Africa, the Middle East and Asia. 

Since that time, Peters has released five stand-up specials on Showtime, Comedy Central and Netflix and has appeared in CBS hit show Life in Pieces and starred in several feature films, plus has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay LenoThe Jimmy Fallon ShowJimmy Kimmel LiveLopez TonightCraig FergusonThe Queen Latifah Show and Def Comedy Jam. Don’t miss the opportunity to see Russell Peters live this weekend!

CHRISTMAS TOWN MINIATURES
Christmas is the theme in Michael Garman’s 3,000 square foot miniature city. His gallery staff has spent HOURS getting the holiday details just right with mini-Christmas trees, carolers, holly, tinsel, and presents galore! This special exhibition of Christmas in Magic Town includes special holographic performances from Colorado Springs’ best actors, with special appearances by Santa Claus and his Mrs. With a seasonal scavenger hunt, and all the eye-candy, you’ll enjoy plenty of Christmas cheer!

HAPPY HOUR STAND-UP
This weekendChris Voth is an accomplished comedian, a licensed teacher, and a published author. He has made several national television appearances, including the Late Late Show, Last Comic Standing, and Comics Unleashed. He also appeared in his own half-hour special on Altitude Sports Cable and was chosen for the prestigious Great American Comedy Festival. A 15-year comedy veteran, Chris is a past winner of the Denver Comedy Works Competition and has worked with everyone from Dave Chappelle and Larry the Cable Guy to Linda Ronstadt. Chris balances his performance schedule with a full-time high-school teaching career and is currently working on his doctorate in education from the University of Colorado Denver. TOM PAPA LIVE

With residencies at Largo in Los Angeles and The Village Underground in NYC, Tom writes the script for each live radio show and casts top actors and comedians to play the roles or perform stand-up, all backed by a live band. VOICE OF CUBA ORCHESTRA
Get ready for some hot Latin jazz! Adonis Puentes’ rich, soulful voice is the perfect front for his all-acoustic orchestra, layering traditional Cuban rhythms with deep bass lines, jazzy horns and his melodic guitar. A Grammy-nominated vocalist and composer from Cuba who weaves passionate, hypnotic Salsa and Cuban melodies through jazz arrangements, Puentes and the orchestra create a worldly experience that is as emotive as it is danceable.

WARREN MILLER’S LATEST
This weekendWarren Miller, the world’s foremost ski filmmaker whose annual films for the past 68 years have officially kicked off winter and the ski season, returns to Pikes Peak Center this weekend with this year’s film: Volkswagen Presents – Warren Miller’s Line of Descent.

Through Miller’s lens, audiences will travel the globe by land, air, and sea, exploring the ties that bind us. SHOP FOR A GOOD CAUSE!
The Castle Rock Craft Show Extraordinaire is the largest craft event in the area and kicks off the holiday season this weekend with 150 vendors selling unique and handmade items, plus door prizes, a silent auction, a wreath auction, book sale, bake sale and the one-and-only “Grandma’s Attic.” More than 5,000 people attended last year and this year craft organizers are giving away a commemorative 25th anniversary shopping bag to the first 1000 attendees. Food donations to the Douglas-Elbert Task Force taken at the front doors.

LUNCH WITH TEMPLE GRANDIN
This weekendThe bio-pic about Temple Grandin, Ph.D., starring Claire Danes, brought wide recognition to the 70-year-old professor of animal science at Colorado State University. Diagnosed with autism as a small child, Dr. Grandin is a prominent author and speaker on both autism and animal behavior. She became one of the top scientists in the humane livestock handling industry through ground-breaking research and brings startling insight into her two worlds. Dr. Grandin will speak at this event about new cattle handling skills with Curt Pate, himself a much sought-after clinician. This is a rare opportunity to see the pair together discussing handling skills, visit popular vendors and ranching industry colleagues. The admission price includes both a Western-styled lunch and the clinic.

BILLY GARDELL LIVE!
This weekendDown-to-earth and raucously funny, the Emmy-nominated Mike and Molly actor’s stand-up show is filled with stories from his wild adolescence and the woes of modern family life. With plenty of acting credits and comedy specials under his belt, Gardell is seasoned, hilarious and while he took the long road to Hollywood, stopping at every small town lounge, military base and comedy club along the way, his grounded, down-to-earth point of view strikes a strong chord with his audiences. His comedy act took him to Los Angeles where his dedication to acting and stand-up earned him a few comedy specials including Billy Gardell: Halftime, which premiered on Comedy Central and Billy Gardell Presents Road Dogs, which premiered on Showtime.
