Winter Date Night!

POSTED January 29, 2019

It’s cold, it’s snowy, and whether you stay in or go out, this kind of weather lends itself to both creative, romantic and uber-fun winter dates. Grab your SO and plan a cozy Netflix night with homemade hot chocolate and s’mores or book a cooking class and find out how to celebrate Chinese New Year! We rounded up a few date night ideas right here, for a wonderful winter on the town or on the couch!

Cooking for Two

We teased the cooking class so let’s go full speed into the Uncorked Kitchen and Wine Bar. This restaurant/cooking school is located at 8171 S. Chester Street in Centennial, about 30 minutes from your front door in Crystal Valley. The events and classes look appetizing and fun, from learning How to Make a killer combination of radicchio, salmon and basmati on February 2, to Celebrating the Chinese New Year on February 3. These date night cooking classes book up quickly so check out the Event Calendar and plan ahead for cooking and skills classes and wine-tasting events!

If you can travel further away for your date night, there’s also the French Kitchen in Colorado Springs with lots of culinary classes for singles and pairs, and the Cook Street School in downtown Denver.

Hot Chocolate and S’mores

We’re not talking a little heated milk and cocoa powder here. We’re talking half and half, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and your choice of dark chocolate or white chocolate (yes, we’re going there) “bases.” How Sweet Eats suggests creating a Flavor Bar as well, stocked with everything from vanilla bean marshmallows (do we have your attention?), salted caramels, truffles of any and all flavors and sprinkles. Blogger Jessica, who we’d seriously like to meet one day, included WAY more choices on her Flavor Bar, we just gave you our faves.

SO you’ve got your hot chocolate simmering, and you could make chocolate chip cookies to dip in it, or you could make s’mores indoors. The Food Network has an easy recipe for S’mores Indoors; just grab some marshmallows and round up a few graham crackers and milk chocolate bars and preheat your oven to 400 degrees!

Now check out everything releasing on Netflix in February, and you’ve got one go-to sit and sip night ahead of you!

A Little Exertion

Castle Rock’s own Rink at the Rock is a great place to glide around and costs $8 per person and $4 to rent a pair of skates. The Rink at the Rock is open until 9:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights, and closes February 18, but you can still head to Monument Ice Rinks for a spin around the ice with your main squeeze. Located at 16240 Old Denver Rd. in Monument – about 27 minutes from Crystal Valley.

When’s the last time you rolled a bowling ball at some pins? That long, huh? Well just  14 miles from Castle Rock in Lone Tree is one cool bowling alley – Bowlero, at 9255 Kimmer Drive. Featuring black lights, soft lounge seats, huge HD video walls that play everything from live sports to music videos and classic family films, this really is the hippest bowling alley we’ve ever seen.

Did we mention there’s a sports bar, plenty of pool tables, and a laser tag arena for a little friendly competitive zapping. There’s also a deluxe arcade featuring state-of-the-art video games and tons of old-school classics like Pac-Man and pinball machines. Bowlero is open weekdays until 11 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday until 1:00 a.m., for all you nocturnal animals.
