The Oak Ridge Boys Are in Town!

Catch the Grammy-winning Country Music Hall of Famers, The Oak Ridge Boys, in concert this weekend in Parker! Can you believe it’s been 40 years since the release of their hit song Elvira? Don’t miss this epic event, and you can also catch a John Denver Tribute, Johnny A. performance, Halloween movie or tea at the castle this weekend!

ELK BUGLING AT THE RANCH
The eerie sounds of elk bugling must be heard in person to be appreciated—and at Cherokee Ranch, you’ll be in the perfect spot to witness this unique mating call. You’ll also get a panoramic view of the dazzling fall colors as you learn about the mating rituals of the magnificent elk. 

You can bring your own picnic dinner and you purchase beer, wine, and soft drinks on site. Be prepared for some chillier weather out on the terrace! A tour of the castle will also be provided.

MAD CAP COMEDY
John Caparulo, aka Cap, has been making audiences laugh for decades. He’s made multiple appearances on The Tonight Show, Comedy Central Presents, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Blue Collar Comedy: The Next Generation, and as a standout performer in Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show. 

Cap has also appeared over 150 times on Chelsea Handler’s popular E! show, Chelsea Lately, during its 7-year run. He has been a part of Ron White’s Salute To The Troops on CMT, a network on which he became well-known as the host of the surprisingly hilarious show Mobile Home Disaster.

GUADALUPE IN THE GUEST ROOM
A compelling drama about breaking barriers and new beginnings, Guadalupe in the Guest Room is a heartfelt story about overcoming grief. Guadalupe is living in her son-in-law Steve’s guest room while she works to translate the children’s books her deceased daughter has written. Struggling with grief and separated by a language barrier, the unlikely housemates are ultimately brought together by the power of telenovelas.

BACKCOUNTRY ELK SIGHTINGS
The Backcountry Wilderness Area is the perfect place to catch a glimpse of the majestic elk—or at least hear them bugling!

You’ll enjoy an evening hiking with a naturalist who can point out wildlife in their natural habitat and explore part of the property otherwise not accessible to the public.

LET’S GO SCIENCE SHOW
The wacky world of science is brought to the stage live and in person! Your inquisitive kids will love learning about “how things work” with Professor Smart and Ms. Knowitall, two legends of the circus world.  

This fun-filled evening teaches physics concepts through theatrically-based experiments and demonstrations. Kids and adults alike will enjoy interacting with this dazzling production!

NEW WORLD SYMPHONY
Dvořák was inspired by Native American rhythms and African-American spiritual influences when he wrote New World Symphony during his time as visiting Director of New York City’s National Conservatory of Music of America.

It’s not too soon to start thinking about Halloween! The Backcountry Movies series will get you in the mood when they screen the Day-of-the-Dead flick Coco on Friday night, and the tale of three wacky witches, Hocus Pocus, on Saturday. Be sure to register in advance and bring your own snacks!

BREAKFAST WITH A PILOT
Watch planes fly in and meet their pilots for breakfast! Wings Over the Rockies’ Exploration of Flight location gives you the chance to get up close and personal with what it’s like to be a pilot. TRAIL FESTIVAL RUN
Castle Rock’s epic trail event is back! Challenge yourself on the vast ridgeline trail system with race options ranging from a 5K to the Ultra Marathon 50K! The liveBIG Family Adventure Run is perfect for all members of the family!

Races will wind through the single and double-track trails at Philip S. Miller Park and Ridgeline Open Space. You will take in the impressive views of the surrounding buttes and the scenic views of Castle Rock as the trail twists and winds over the flowing race course.

JOHN DENVER TRIBUTE
Sing along with some of the best songs to ever fill the Colorado skies: Take Me Home (Country Roads), Rocky Mountain High, Annie’s Song, Leaving on a Jet Plane, Follow Me, Thank God I’m a Country Boy, and Sunshine on My Shoulders. This ultimate tribute to the legendary John Denver features the voice of Jim Curry, the singer chosen to portray John Denver’s voice in the CBS TV movie: Take Me Home: The John Denver Story.

In this live stage concert, Curry will recreate the wonderful songs written, sung, and made famous by John Denver before his untimely death in 1997. Share the kindred spirit of fellow fans who have helped to keep this music alive!

ME AND MY GUITAR

When the Oak Ridge Boys recorded their Grammy-winning song Elvira back in 1981, they had no idea what an enormous hit it was going to be. Forty years later, Elvira has continued to be a classic, played in over 100 countries, added to over 109 editorial playlists, and has reached 5 million plays on Apple Music.

Now you can celebrate the song’s birthday with the band as The Oak Ridge Boys appears in concert right here in Parker!
