Happy Heart Day Celebrations!

Cooking and crafts lead the way in celebrating Valentine’s Day in the Castle Rock area! Both virtual and IRL events for the entire family will have everyone smiling. And as a much-needed treat for parents, there are several Kids Night Out options this weekend, so you can enjoy a heart-day celebration for just the two of you!

TODAY/TONIGHT, February 11

KIDS NIGHT OUT
Kids ages 3-11 will enjoy an evening of games, crafts, decorating cookies, and a movie. That leaves time for parents to enjoy a kid-free evening to celebrate together. Pack a dinner for the kids and feel free to send a pillow and/or blanket for them to relax with as they watch a movie. Event is FREE but advance registration is required.

VALENTINE’S HAPPY HOUR ONLINE
Learn how to make the most festive Valentine’s Day cocktails while joining your online happy hour pals! HRCA’s online Happy Hour brings you a drink master who will share some of his favorite recipes for the holiday. Try one or try them all! The event is free, but make sure to come prepared with all the ingredients needed to follow along.

VIRTUAL LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION
Chinese New Year is one of the most vibrant and colorful celebrations of the year, and 2021 is no different, despite being online. This three-day virtual celebration showcases the diversity of traditional and contemporary immigrant Chinese-American artists as they send away the Year of the Rat and welcome the New Year of the Ox. 

The online program includes lively performances of dance, music, acrobatics, and Chinese Opera performed by world-renowned Chinese American performers living in America. Following the performances, a panel discussion will give you behind-the-scenes access!

WILD WEATHER IN THE BACKCOUNTRY
This Backcountry Wilderness Program is part of the Nature Homeschool program, designed for kids ages 7-14—a half-day close-to-home opportunity for exploration and learning in a natural setting. 

Kids will learn all about the ways the weather affects the backcountry and is built with the Colorado State Education Standards in mind. The workshop is open to the public regardless of a student’s learning-style choice (homeschool, eLearning, or hybrid).

FAMILY OUTDOOR CHALLENGE
Put your family’s skills to the test and see how you would survive in the elements of the Backcountry! This special family survival and orienteering workshop will teach you new skills and let you put your collective knowledge to work as you build survival shelters, make flint-and-steel fires, forage in the wild, and find and gather water. Each course teaches different skills and include varied challenges that match the season.

PRINCESS BALLET CLASS 
This is a surefire way to make dreams come true for your own little princess! In this special fairytale dance class for dancers ages 3 to 5, they’ll learn basic ballet moves and get to meet their favorite princess at the same time! During story time, they’ll interact with the characters from the story and even get their autographs! Dancers will get to move to their favorite songs and have adventures, just like their favorite princess!

KIDS DAY OUT BAKING EVENT
Kids will decorate their own Cupid gingerbread house while you get a couple of hours to celebrate Valentine’s Day on your own. VIRTUAL VALENTINE’S DINNER 
You obviously can’t eat a dinner prepared on the internet, but you can learn how to make a gourmet Valentine’s Dinner online, led by a professional chef, with all the ingredients picked up in advance!

This live-streamed, interactive event will guide you through the creation of an elegant menu, including a Surf-n-Turf entree of butter-poached lobster tail and bacon-wrapped steak with red wine Bordelaise sauce and Lyonnaise potatoes with Gruyere cheese. You’ll also get a bottle of either red or white wine paired with your meal (Sommelier’s choice).

IN-PERSON VALENTINE EVENT
It doesn’t get any more intimate than this: you and your Significant Other sharing a canvas and creating your own collaborative painting! The class includes one 16×20 canvas, paints, instruction, and a FREE bottle of house wine. 

Please arrive 15-20 minutes early to get uncorked, smocked, and in your seat! If you need more time to unwind before class gets started, you may arrive up to 30 minutes prior to start time.
