Ring in a happy new year with celebratory things to do in Castle Rock – from New Year’s Eve parties, concert performances and movies to before-and-after fitness celebrations to get you off to a great 2018 this weekend!

The Lone Tree Arts Center is just a short hop up the highway from Crystal Valley, and is ready to ring in the New Year with style! Load your out-of-town guests into a local stretch limo, and spend the night enjoying catered appetizers, casino games, and karaoke, all capped with a screening of Elvis Presley’s film Viva Las Vegas and an Elvis costume contest! A great event for family, friends and Elvis fans!

NYE WITH DAN CUMMINS!
Headliner Dan Cummins will appear at Comedy Works for three nights plus three special New Year’s Eve (NYE) shows. On NYE, join Dan at 5:00 p.m. for an all-ages show (*rated PG-13), wait for the 7:30 p.m. for a show with drinks, or ring in the New Year with Dan starting at 10:00 p.m. The NYE Extravaganza includes a champagne toast and party favors! You’ll enjoy Dan Cummins’ unusual observations and unique autobiographical stand-up comedy, which have earned him spots on The Tonight Show, Comedy Central specials, and his own weekly podcast Timesuck. Before you ring in the New Year, start the day off with an active, fun, fitness event! Join your community and StrideMob in Castle Rock for a 5K and start a habit to stay active in 2018. Your run will start and finish at the Douglas County Event Center. Take advantage of the great race swag and indoor warm up then sprint, run, or walk with your community and compete for awards in the male, female and masters age groups. NEW YEAR’S EVE GALA
Wear your dancing shoes because DJ Warrez will be spinning tunes and the Hep Cats in The Bluzinators Band will blow your mind. And back by popular demand, a special appearance of The Blues Brothers Bootleg Road Show that’s sure to entertain. This year’s proceeds will help “at risk” homeless students via Hide in Plain Sight, so party for a good cause as you ring in the New Year!

Upon arrival pick up your party favors and take some pics in your black tie attire (optional). Enjoy libations at the cash bar and the buffet of delicious eats opens at 7:30 p.m. The silent auction will conclude by 10:30 p.m. with enviable items like an African safari, valuable sports memorabilia, restaurants, hand-crafted quilts, fine art and so much more.

COMMITMENT DAY 5K!
Commitment Day or CD5K is in its sixth year of promoting what they hope with be a recurring, lifetime event for all participants. Start the New Year up and moving with a fun, family fitness event. All paces are welcome and kids age 13 and under run for free with a registered adult. Registration includes an event bib, t-shirt, raffles, photos and post run expo.

HAPPY HOUR STAND UP: MIKE STANLEY
Mike Stanley is a working comedian and writer from Detroit. His high-energy and cutthroat delivery makes him a crowd favorite in comedy clubs and college campuses all over the country. Last year, he won the Last Comic Still Standing comedy competition in Rochester New York, The Joey’s Comedy Club Challenge, and placed in the top three of Michigan’s Up and Comers. This year, he was crowned the Canadian Mist Whiskey Comedian. He breaks down day-to-day subjects with a keen wit and drives his edgy humor home fearlessly.
